Hoxley & Porter

The occasion was my flatmates birthday, and the reason for our destination was simply the curved window which looks so curious on Upper Street and a beautiful business card. Hoxley & Porter is a well thought out place, with a post-colonial theme and potentially House of Holland wallpaper, with an array of interesting wall decorations. As we were celebrating, of course we got cocktails. I think we ordered Jungle Bird, Liquid Gold, Delicious Sour and… I got the Jungle Bird and it was really tasty.

To eat, we all went for the set menu which is great value at £12.95 for two courses and £15.95 for three. Potted pork and fried squid were ordered as starters, and the squid was highly recommendable. For mains I went for fishcakes, I don’t remember what the others ordered.

Then dessert was two flavours of sorbet, again the flavours will forever be a mystery.

The service was not bad, and the ambience was great. I would love to visit again, perhaps for a sunday lunch to sample their bloody marys.
